With a background in ministry and education, Tyler Smoot unites thorough preparation with an eagerness to learn by doing. Since joining the Spotswood team, Tyler has briefed matters before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, federal district courts, the Alabama Supreme Court, and Alabama trial courts. He thrives on finding how his legal skills can efficiently meet your business and legal needs.
From 2021-2022, Tyler clerked for the Hon. Karon O. Bowdre of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2021, where he served as Senior Editor for the Alabama Civil Rights & Civil Liberties Law Review. Before law school, he earned a Master of Divinity degree from Duke Divinity School and served in part-time ministry for three years.
Tyler enjoys being a pastor’s husband and a father of two adventurous sons. In his free time, you will find him trail running or cycling around Birmingham.
