Spotswood Sansom & Sansbury LLC is pleased to announce that Matt Hart has joined the firm as senior counsel.

Hart prosecuted public corruption and white collar criminal cases for over twenty years. He served as an Assistant United States Attorney and as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Alabama. During his time as federal prosecutor in the Northern District of Alabama, Hart established and directed a nationally renowned federal-state corruption task force which produced over 125 convictions in high-profile matters. His cases included corruption related to the Alabama two-year college system and corruption in the management of the Jefferson County sewer rehabilitation. After leaving the Department of Justice, Hart returned to the Alabama Attorney General’s Office where he founded and was the chief of the Special Prosecutions Division. The SPD focused on investigating and prosecuting corruption in Alabama State government. He led the investigation and prosecution of numerous high profile matters involving public entities and officials in the State of Alabama.
